The president also asked for a moment of silence to commemorate the killing of a teenager on Sunday in Lima, whose body was found by her family in the home of an alleged informal settlement guard in the Pachacamac district, in the south of the country. capital.
The minor disappeared from her home on Sunday, but her parents received a call from the person who allegedly found her and said he would take her to the police station in the area of Villa María del Triunfo, América Noticias reported.
However, after several hours, the teenager did not show up at the police station, and the family accelerated the search using the geolocation of their mobile phone.
Consequently, the family and the national police arrived at an open field in the settlement of Lucuma in Pachacamac, where they found the remains of the minor, apparently strangled, inside the house.
Lack of clarity about the crime
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Yerson Juarez Tapia, said he was a security guard at the scene and, after questioning, apparently confessed to killing the minor.
However, a local resident told the police that she saw a motorcycle taxi carrying two men arriving at the house on Sunday morning.
A mob of neighbors attacked Juarez after he allegedly confessed to the crime, forcing them to hospitalize him, El Comercio newspaper reported.
The specialized prosecutor’s office for cases of violence against women and family members of the Luryn district began a preliminary investigation after discovering the death of a 12-year-old minor.
The ombudsman’s office said there were 5,518 reports of missing women, most of them minors, between January and October 2024, and that 133 femicides were committed during the same period.
