Cacau Show broke the coffers to buy a major competitor

Cacau Show is without a doubt one of the most traditional and famous chocolate companies in Brazil. In fact, the brand kept expanding and surprised us with a big acquisition. Alexander Tadeu da Costa’s company bought a competitor from Nestlé.

For those who don’t know, the company purchased Pan Chocolate Factory, known for its chocolate ‘cigarettes’ and ‘coins’. The company has been in litigation since March 2021, but was unable to recover and eventually filed for bankruptcy.

As a result, the entire company was put up for auction, which was approved by the court, this Thursday, October 19. Through its CCSH investment arm, Cacau Show fought for and took all the items from the auction, acquiring the area of ​​the property where the factory was located.

In addition, Alexander Tadeu da Kost’s company purchased all the equipment and machines on the spot. According to CNN Brasil, the purchase amount was more than 71 million reais, which is 33% more than the originally announced price.

Why did the company buy competitor Nestlé?

According to Folha de São Paulo, construction company Patriani, which has a strong presence in ABC, has also tried to take over the area. However, the bankruptcy judge found that the offer did not meet the notice requirements. In fact, there’s a reason why they accepted the Cacau Show’s offer.

Cacau Show’s bid, according to the judge, was more favorable because it had no terms other than payment of the balance within 30 months. On February 13 of this year, the company filed for self-bankruptcy as part of the judicial recovery, which has been ongoing since 2020.
