California adds jobs in August, statewide unemployment rate unchanged

California added jobs in August, while the state’s unemployment rate was unchanged from the previous month, state labor officials said Friday.

The Golden State added 23,100 jobs in August, according to the state Department of Employment Development.

California’s unemployment rate was 4.6% in August, the same level as in July.

The unemployment rate in California has remained unchanged for three months in a row.

Seven of California’s 11 industries gained jobs in August, according to the EDD.
