Carrefour Brasil (CRFB3) Sells Less in 3Q13; retailer names reasons – Money Times

The total volume of sales of Art Carrefour Brasil Group (CRFB3) reached 28.2 billion reais in the third quarter of 2023, down 3.9% compared to the same period last year, according to an operational review published this Tuesday (24).

A food retailer explains that sales during this period were affected food deflation (-3%), except for volume pressure.

“The third quarter of 2023 was marked by continued deflation food productsparticularly in the commodity areas, which affects both sales (due to lower prices) and volumes as we continue to see customers B2B (Business to Business) destocking, especially at the beginning of the quarter, and buying in more fractional patterns, resulting in lower average ticket and higher number of tickets,” he comments.

Division Atacadao recorded a reduction of 2.7% in the line, while Carrefour Retail, excluding gasoline, became cheaper by 7.7%. On the other hand, operations of Sam’s Club showed LfL (same store sales) growth of 2%.

Within limits Cash & Carryhowever, Carrefour emphasizes that the old stores in the A large group which were converted to Atacadão stores, LfL saw solid growth of 22.2% in the third quarter.

Gross income of Art Bank Carrefour reached R$15.1 billion, an increase of 13.1% year-on-year, while the company managed to attract new customers in the newly remodeled stores.

E-commerce GMV (gross merchandise volume) reached R$2.5 billion, representing 9.2% of sales. The milestone represents a nearly 50% jump from the third quarter of 2022.

The increase was mainly due to the food category 1P, which grew by 116.7% year-on-year.

In the third quarter, Carrefour opened three new Cash & Carry stores in the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as three new Carrefour Expressalso in Sao Paulo.

Currently, the group operates 1,190 stores with a total sales area of ​​3,326,435 m².
