Delaware’s unemployment rate was unchanged in August.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1% in August, unchanged from July and above the national rate of 3.8%.
And the unemployment rate in the state has decreased compared to August 2022, when it was 4.5%.
The area’s unemployment rate — not seasonally adjusted — was the highest statewide except for Newark, which fell 1.4% from July.
And the unemployment rate in every region except Wilmington is lower than it was a year ago.
As for the number of jobs in the state, nonfarm payrolls were 482,900 in August, up from 483,300 in July.
The largest job losses occurred in the trade, transportation and utilities sectors, as well as private education and health care.
In August, the number of construction works increased compared to July.
Delaware added 9,800 jobs over the past year, a 2.1% increase compared to a 2% national increase.
