El Acho Emprende is growing and will reach 16 locations this year

The Acho Emprende program, promoted annually by Almendralejo’s business coordinator, continues to grow. This program, created many years ago to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of school children and improve their business skills at an early age, This will cover up to 16 towns with less than 20,000 inhabitants in the Tierra de Barros and Matachel regions.

The presentation of this plan was carried out for the first time in the Council of the Province of Badajoz in the presence of the Deputy of the Province Ramon Díaz Farias, the President of Ceal Miriam Lázaro, the technician of the project Julio Fraga; and representatives of several schools in the region.

After five years of development in primary and secondary schools in Almendralejo, the project is moving to the provincial level and aims to achieve several sustainable development goals. It will cover more than 350 primary school students, particularly from 3rd to 6th grade.

The Council of the Province of Badajoz will be one of the pillars of funding for this school entrepreneurship program, which last year was chosen as the best innovative project at the Leader Extremadura Awards.

Diaz Farias emphasized the importance of how to communicate both on a business and general level, which is one of the strengths of the program.

Miriam Lazaro of Silo suggested that the inclusion of this proposal in the so-called “Participatory Budgets” makes it possible to destroy “geographical barriers” in the implementation of Acho Emprende. He recalled that it was created in 2016 with the aim “to respond to the need expressed by the educational community itself, to promote the project with an entrepreneurial spirit.”

Through different challenges, Almendralejo students have been able to develop project management skills with Lego, strategies to understand climate change, learn to make films or know how to speak in public.

Acho Emprende coach Julio Frago announced the municipalities that will have this opportunity, such as Achesal, Solana de los Barros, Corte de Peléas, Entrin Bajo, Villalba de los Barros, Santa Marta de -los Barros, Tarejia, Nogales, Puebla de la Reina, Villafranca de los Barros, Ornachos, Palomas, Ribera del Fresno and Hinojosa del Valle.

Isabel Gomez, one of the participating teachers, added that such initiatives are very well received by all schoolchildren.
