The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) announced this Friday (12) a call to support activities to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Brazil, worth 3 Brazilian reals. The full call can be viewed here.
The call will finance national or international events to be held in Brazil, including conferences, congresses, seminars, forums and other types of events, if they meet the objectives of promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. The aim is to stimulate the exchange of knowledge, connect different participants in the ecosystem and encourage new initiatives.
During the launch of the call, MCTI’s Secretary for Technological Development and Innovation, Gila Calheiros, explained that the announcement is unprecedented and will cover major national events that are already joined by at least three editions held that focus on entrepreneurship and innovation and impact the innovation ecosystem . “This call fills a giant gap. It is difficult for those working with these developments in Brazil to mobilize resources and ensure continuity of action,” he noted.
CNPq President Ricardo Galvão said that new industrialization based on scientific and technological development is a fundamental task of the federal government. “Discussions and events that allow us to establish contacts and cooperation are of great importance for this. This initiative will be very well received,” he said.

The call provides for two funding ranges depending on the scale of the event: up to R$300,000 for international events and up to R$150,000 for national events. The submission of proposals will take place in two rounds depending on the period of the event: the first for the events to be held in the second half of 2024 and the second for the events to be held in the first half of 2025. Entities must submit proposals in the first round by May 27 of this year. Selection results for this round should be published in June.
Activities to promote entrepreneurship and innovation can inspire and empower people and organizations to develop new ideas, products and services, contributing to the creation of an environment conducive to a culture of entrepreneurship and the generation of innovation. In addition, they provide a unique opportunity for the dissemination of knowledge, best practices and successful experiences, contributing to the development of the sector.
In addition to facilitating collective learning, the events are conducive spaces for networking and establishing strategic partnerships, strengthening the network of actors involved in creating an active entrepreneurial ecosystem. This initiative is in line with the government’s policy to promote science, technology and innovation, confirming a commitment to creativity, entrepreneurship and competitiveness.
