Emmanuelle Dalman, 27, of Espirito Santo, was working in the administrative area of the market when she was fired in 2021 and left unemployed. Trying to find a way back into the job market, she accepted her husband’s offer to stay on to run the e-commerce business he had set up as a second business during the pandemic. It would be something temporary. However, the online cosmetics store with beauty products for hair, body and face began to grow so much that it was necessary to find more space for stock. What used to fit in half of the wardrobe now occupies a warehouse. Everything for the success of Ema Cosméticos on Shopee, one of the main e-commerce platforms in the world.

Such success surprises Emmanuel even today. It is admitted that even after dismissal, she did not think about entrepreneurship. The original goal was to find a new job.

“My husband started selling cosmetics and electronics online during the pandemic to supplement his income and occupy his time. When I was out of work, he encouraged me to stay and manage the store. I agreed and thought I would stay until I found a job. So much so that I kept sending out resumes. , in principle, I did not want to work independently, but I did not think that the company would grow so much.

Growth began to reduce the space in the wardrobe for supplies. He and his brother then rented a house in Vila Velha to store food. The brother lived on the second floor, and the first floor was used for company. When cosmetics began to occupy the second floor of the building, we had to move to another place: to a store that functioned as a warehouse. All this in less than a year. At that time, they hired their first employee.

“It took me a while to see that this is a company with growth potential. Every time we expanded, I was afraid,” Emanueli admits.

An entrepreneur talks about the growth of Ema Cosméticos on Shopee. When she saw an increase in sales, she signed up for a management program offered by the platform and chose a store. “I did everything that was recommended and got a permanent supervisor,” he recalls.

Sales increased more than 20 times. The company has undergone some expansion to accommodate orders made 100% through the marketplace. According to Emanuelly, most of the customers are from Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. And the flagship product is a hair tonic as well as shampoo sets.

With growth, it was necessary to transfer the stock to the warehouse in Kariatsica, which was larger and had room for trucks to enter. Another nine months passed, and the volume of production no longer fit into the arrangement. So, they took a new step: they bought land to build another warehouse, still in Kariachyca. The new square began to be used by the company at the beginning of this year.

Achievements

By owning a shop in the market, Emmanuelle was able to buy a car, help her mother live in a better place, and have some necessary surgeries, investing in her health and quality of life. Now the entrepreneur is helped by his younger brother and mother in the everyday life of the store.

“It’s great to know that we were able to change the lives of my family and company employees by selling cosmetics on Shopee. Everything was a result of my sales on the platform,” he says.

Work for moms

Ema Cosméticos currently has 10 employees, most of whom are Emmanuelle’s childhood friends who are now mothers. For an entrepreneur, this is gratitude to all those who often raise children alone and work to support the farm.

I was raised by a single mother, and I saw how difficult it was for her to get a job, especially since she had children. That is why my priority today is to employ women-mothers
