The startup won international UN tenders for its humanitarian actions. The equipment is sold through the United Nations Office for Project Services (Unops), the humanitarian arm of the United Nations.
In five years, water purifiers have been sent to 20 countries and regions experiencing conflicts and environmental crises. In 2022, 50 PWTech purifiers purchased through an international tender conducted by Unops were sent to Ukraine.
In some cases, the company also donates equipment. For the Gaza Strip, PWTech donated 35 purifiers in 2023. Soon after, the Brazilian government purchased 65 more pieces of equipment from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency to send to the region.
Silva says the government purchased 65 PW5660 scrubbers this year to take to refugee camps in Ethiopia.
In 2021, the equipment was used in Haiti to help around 150,000 people affected by the earthquake. “We offered 50 units of equipment, which we took through the humanitarian mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he says.
In Brazil, a startup delivered a purifier to the Yanomami village of Tarakoa in the Amazon in 2022. Subsequently, the Secoya Association (Association of Service and Cooperation with the Yanomami People) purchased five more cleaners.
