According to a Ryanair statement, the unpleasant behavior of the passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, forced the commander to take the decision to emergency landing at the airport from Porto. As a result, both the crew and the other passengers were forced to spend the night in the Portuguese city, which generated additional costs for accommodation and compensation in the amount of 15,000 euros.
There is a civil process
“We have commenced civil proceedings to recover these costs from this passenger,” a Ryanair spokesman said. The Irish airline emphasizes this will not tolerate inappropriate behavior which jeopardize the safety of their flights and create obstacles for other travelers.
Discomfort and responsibility
Incident generated at that time a palpable discomfort among the affected passengers due to an unexpected detour. Many of them had planned to arrive in Lanzarote to enjoy their holiday, but found themselves with a considerable delay and the need search for alternative flights from Porto, creating additional costs, in a new case that highlights the importance of maintaining civil and responsible behavior on board aircraft, while companies are more aggressive in pursuing and sanctioning relationships that harm safety and welfare of passengers and crew during flights.
