Rate unemployment with Canada It was unchanged in September at 5.5% despite a net addition of 64,000 jobs during the month, according to data released this Friday by the government Statistics Canada (EC).
For the third month in a row, the unemployment rate in the country remains unchanged at 5.5%. The Canadian economy added 40,000 jobs in August workplaces.
On average, Canada has added 30,000 jobs each month since the beginning of the year.
The unemployment rate remained steady in September, despite net job creation as more people entered the labor market as a result of demographic growth.
This year, 447,055 migrants will arrive in the country, which is approximately 37,000 people per month.
Analysts noted that the pace of job creation in the North American country has slowed in recent months as a result of the Bank of Canada’s aggressive policy of raising interest rates.
Since early 2022, the Bank of Canada has raised rates 10 times to control inflationwhich reached 8.1% in June last year, the last one on July 12.
Interest rates are currently at 5%, the highest level since March 2001.
