One of the most vulnerable groups in Spain are people over 52, as it is much more difficult for them to return to the world of work after losing their job. This situation means that government agencies provide them with special assistance, so in addition to the right to claim unemployment benefits from State Employment Service (SEPE), It has a certain plus. This population group will be able to get a a subsidy of 480 euros until they find work or reach retirement age. The big advantage of this method is that people continue to contribute to their pension.

In the current over-52 subsidy, the old over-55 contribution requirements are as follows:
- Contribute throughout your working life at least 15 years before retirement. For this requirement, contributions can be in any mode (general mode, individual entrepreneurs, domestic workers, etc.).
- Of this total number of years of contributions for retirement, at least two must be contributed to fifteen years before applying for a subsidy. For example, a worker who has 18 years of contributions, but who has not worked or contributed for 20 years, will not qualify because they do not have two years of contributions for retirement 15 years before the time they apply for the subsidy .
- Out of these total years of pension contributions (remember, at least 15 years), in order to apply for the over-52 grant, you need to have at least 6 years of unemployment contributions in that group of years of pension contributions general mode. That is, the employee could contribute to the pension in different regimes, but must have at least 6 years in the general regime for employed workers.
