Wanderlei visits Agrosudeste and highlights the importance of the event for the region; the fair brought more than 50 million R$ to the business

After four days of programming, this Saturday, the 13th, the 8th edition of the Tocantins (Agrosudeste) Southeast Regional Agritech Fair officially closes. Governor Wanderlei Barbosa, accompanied by First Lady Karin Sotero, attended the final day of the event, which is supported by the Government of Tocantins through the Tocantins Rural Development Institute (Ruraltins).

The head of the state executive committee participated in the traditional bread mass, and also visited the 3rd edition of Cavalgada Agrosudeste. “With this closure, we are ensuring that the Southeast region is extremely important to our state. With the help of agribusiness and such encouraging events, we cooperate with the manufacturing sector and strengthen the richness of Tocantin’s culture,” emphasizes Governor Wanderlei Barbosa.

The fair is held annually at the Neiçon Gomes agro-technological park in Almas and is considered the largest in the southeastern Tocantins region. This year, the event took place from April 10 to 13, and was attended by more than 50 local and other exhibitors, as well as representatives of five financial institutions. According to estimates, the fair collected about 50 million reais, and also attracted about 20,000 people during its days. The event featured advanced technology and business and learning opportunities

Governor Wanderlei Barbosa visited the fair, passing through the Arena of Knowledge of the State University of Tocantins (Unitins); The Mining Pavilion of the State Mining Agency of Tocantins (Ameto) as well as the Sebrae Agro Space, where training in the private sector with the public production sector was discussed.

“We have many incentive programs for small producers as well as micro and small entrepreneurs, knowing how profitable and productive agricultural activities can be. The fair was a success, I thank the governor and congratulate him for his commitment to support this event,” says Paulo Carneiro, president of the Tocantins State Agriculture and Livestock Federation (Faet) and vice president of Sebrae.

The Mayor of Almas, Wagner Nepamuceno Carvalho, the fair highlighted the region’s potential for agribusiness, thanked the government of Tocantin for its attention and care and support for activities that promote local growth. “The fair is very important to our region, but we are very proud that our city contributes to the entire state through agribusiness. I congratulate the governor who, even with post-operative medical care, came to honor our event, which without his support would not have taken place on such a scale,” says the mayor.

Tourist sector

Being part of the Cerras Gerais region, Almas is home to many attractions thanks to its rich natural beauty, such as Encantado Canyon, Cajueira da Cortina, Cajueira da Fumasa and others.

Thanks to the cultural program of the fair, the number of people in the city increases, which contributes to local trade, especially tourism. The State Secretary for Tourism, Ersi Filho, singled out the fair as a fundamental factor for promoting tourism in the region. “Agribusiness is one of the strengths of the Wanderlei administration and our governor is very supportive of such activities. The fair undoubtedly contributes to local tourism, in addition to promoting the economy of the Serras Gerais region,” commented the secretary.

Agro-southeast

Agrosudeste is run by the Central das Associações dos Produtores Rurais de Almas e Porto Alegre do Tocantins (Cenaprap) and has partnerships with the Tocantins government and secretaries of state, as well as private sector institutions.

With the participation of 25 municipalities in the region and cities in other states such as Bahia, Goias, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, the fair demonstrated the potential of the southeastern region of Tocantins in politics and technology in the agribusiness sector, in addition to opening in research and innovation for the sector.

Among the novelties of the 8th fair, it is worth highlighting the fish farming complex “Excavated reservoirs”, which hosted one of the largest “Field days” in the South-Eastern region, focused on small producers. Another important development is the pioneering implementation of the integration of crop production, livestock production and forestry (ILPF) in public spaces in Tocantin. This initiative aims to promote the restoration of degraded pastures, combining different production systems such as grain, fiber, meat, milk and agro-energy in one area.
